I am an interdisciplinary artist and printmaker, living in Vermont since 1994. Inspired by the natural landscape I use imagination and memory to look beyond realism to make a statement about the pastoral landscape tradition in the 21st century. My work has evolved over the last year, combining my life-long interests in printmaking, drawing, sewing, love of paper and Asian art traditions, like the hanging scroll. 5"x8"
This drawing is ready to be transferred to a block for carving. I really enjoyed the way the image simplified itself and I have worked on this off and on for about a month. I put it down for a few weeks and almost gave up on the image. I stared at it for a few hours while on vacation and it almost finished itself as I decided to just be bold.

Took my students down to the river to paint and had a terrible allergic reaction. Had the worst skin rash in a decade but managed to power through another 2.5 hours of class. Did make this sketch and wrote a little poem about the experience of trying to draw and not scratch my arms off at the same time.

Went out for a walk on my lunch break and wandered up the Taylor Farm Road in Plainfield, Vermont. Found this spot up in a cow field and I plan to go back once the leaves come in full and strong in a couple of weeks.

May 2, 2009Plexi Drypoint
5"x7"
This little print has become my example plate for my students when I am explaining the Plexiglas Drypoint technique. I pulled this proof very quickly and I am surprised at how well it came out. Every time I print it I have scratched the plate a little more and it is coming along...
